Bed and Breakfast in the Languedoc-Roussillon

Coast, Nature and History

Lac Salagou is 5 minutes drive from the B&B, about ten from the gite - tranquil lake ideal for swimming , windsurfing and angling. It is located inside the crater of an extinct volcano. Also worth exploring the distinctive red sands of volcanic terrain.
There are trails for hiking, rambling, mountain-biking and pony-trekking. Also trout fishing here and at nearby Mas de Mérou.
The area is rich with Caves: the Grotte de Clamouse near St Guilhem, the Grotte de Labeil near Lodève and the Grotte des Demoiselles near Ganges.
Cirque de Navacelles
An amazing geological formation which is unique in Europe - one of those natural features that has to be seen to be fully believed. After marvelling at the view, drive down into the village itself, recently classified by the French government as one of the most beautiful medieval hamlets in France.
It’s a small settlement of 10th Century stone houses with enchanting waterfalls, river swimming and beautiful walks through forest glades.
The Tarn Gorge
Stretching over thirty miles with endless breathtaking views and natural beauty. One of the most spectacular sights in the Causses region.
The ‘Parc du Chaos’ near Millau.
Vast area of extraordinary, lunar type rock formations. Explore by small train or on foot.
Priory of St. Michel de Grandmont
A 12th century monastery near Lodève with fascinating ancient Dolmens within the grounds .

The Pont du Gard
An extraordinary feat of Roman art, architecture and engineering.
THE COAST
Beaches galore only thirty minutes’ drive away. One of our favourites is Serignan Plage. Vast expanses of sandy beach and amazingly unspoilt.
Also the Cap d’Agde which is a haven for sun worshippers and naturists. Maybe Mèze, authentic fishing and market town with another large beach (and Dinosaur Park), or Sete, or Frontignan or Marseillan (visit the Noilly Prat cellars) or Valras Plage - the list is endless!
Bouzigues
Recently featured on Rick Stein’s French Food Odyssey, when he took a trip along the Canal du Midi (another nearby attraction in itself).
Lots of lovely restaurants serving great seafood and oysters from the nearby Bassin de Thau; one of the most important oyster producing areas in France, and yes, another beach!
